Peter Pleunik graduated from Adelaide Dental School in 1979 and immediately joined the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps as a Captain Dental Officer.
Postings saw him see service in Singleton NSW, Holsworthy Sydney, Townsville Nth Queensland, and as a Major, Officer Commanding of Puckapunyal and Simpson Barracks Dental Centre in Melbourne, Victoria.
During his time with the Army he sat and passed his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, and was sponsored by the Army to achieve his Masters of Dental Science at Melbourne University. He became a registered Prosthodontist in Victoria in 1991. From 1986 to 1995 he taught at the Dental School of Melbourne.
He retired from the Army in 1992 and set up a private specialist prosthodontic practice in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. He has now been a Prosthodontist for 17 years, with a strong interest in implants and advanced dental rehabilitation using cutting edge technology including clinical CAD/CAM systems.
Since 2003, Peter has been a clinical demonstrator and theory tutor to the 5th Year Undergraduate students at the University of Melbourne Dental School. He is a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Prosthodontists, the International College of Prosthodontists and the Australian Prosthodontic Society.
He has published a number of articles for the IADR concerning the composite resin/GIC sandwich restoration technique, and is, at the moment, completing a five year prospective clinical study of the success/failure rates of CAD all ceramic restorations compared to traditional laboratory restorations. This study will be presented for publication in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, or the International Journal of Prosthodontics after July 2008.
In his spare time, he also has studied for, and achieved, a Graduate Diploma in Science from Swinburne University in Astronomy and Astrophysics and is continuing on with a Masters Degree in Science for the same subject. As a hobby, Peter has a private pilot’s license allowing him to fly single engine aircraft throughout Australia, New Guinea, New Zealand and East Timor.
As a compassionate and skilled dental specialist in the area of restorative dentistry, Peter strives to bring the right combination of information and treatment to his patients. Peter has lectured to the dental profession interstate and overseas about CAD/CAM restoration of teeth.
Additionally, all members of our dental team undergo ongoing training and studying with the latest and up to date techniques and materials.
Anne-Merie experience in the dental industry stretches back nearly 30 years. Anne-Merie began nursing straight after completing school at Dr Stan Sahhar, General Dental Practice, Collins Street, Melbourne in 1980.
Anne-Merie completed her Dental Nursing Certificate in 1981. In 1987 Anne-Merie commenced working at Greensborough Dental with Dr Geoff Lynch as a senior dental nurse and receptionist for 11 years. This position was on a part-time basis in conjunction with family commitments. In this time Anne-Merie gained invaluable knowledge in all areas of dentistry, working with an expansive team.
In 1999 an opportunity arose to move on to Dr Peter Pleunik, Prosthodontist a specialist practice in MacLeod, exposing her to a whole new field of specialist dentistry, involving implants, and complex restorative care. Over the past 10 years Anne-Merie and Peter have created a strongly ethical working relationship.
Her role within Dr. Pleunik’s practice has changed over that 10 year period from dental nursing to Receptionist, to Practice Manager. Duties include administration, staff management, and patient case management involving all aspects of patient’s complex treatment plans. Anne-Merie is involved in ongoing training and exposure to the latest techniques and materials.
On a personal note, Anne-Merie has a warm personality and enjoys being part of a happy and confident team. She enjoys working in an environment that is constantly striving to move forward and she is happy knowing that the practice provides the best possible treatment for their patients.
We employ a number of excellent dental nurses on a part time basis, who are instrumental in providing our patients with expert dental care.
